Fulcrum Surf’ ISPE Expression Session

Presented by Catch Surf

FROTHING

“To be fully amped. Is the more formal use of the word frothen (pronounced froth’n). Its origins is in the Australian surfing community.

mate its solid 4 ft, pitting off its head, Im frothing!

At Fulcrum we like to think of ourselves as the facilitators of “froth”, spreading stoke to every enthusiastic individual that we come across. It is the very reason that we hold our monthly “Expression Sessions,”hour long demonstrations of just how frothy the Fulcrum groms can get!

On May 9th, Fulcrum held it’s second Expression Session in very contestable two to three foot waves in Del Mar, California. With fun waves on tap, and a slew of goodies up for grabs from the kind folks at (CatchSurf, Speaqua Sound Co., SikkShades, and GoSurf), the groms excitement levels could of powered half of San Diego.

The overall top performance of the event saw a seesaw battle between Solana Beach’s Shane Cox and Del Mar’s own, Cody Cohen. At our first Expression Session, Shane-O took a very convincing win at Cody’s home break which sparked Cody’s hunger for competitive success. Cohen came out of the gates hot; posting a few scores in the excellent range courtesy to his lightning quick backside approach. His heat strategy saw him take the lead early and hold it throughout the hour long heat. Perhaps fueled by the appearance of Catch Surf’s legendary team rider, Kalani Robb, Cohen was surfing out of his skin, peaking at the perfect moment to take the “W” as well as sponsorship from Sikk Shades.

The fine gentleman at Catch Surf brought down a collection of Beaters for the kids to take full advantage of. Nobody displayed more fun and style than Luke Auger, who went on to take out, “The Beater Bandit Award”. Luke wasn’t hindered in the slightest by the change in equipment as he absolutely dominated on a 4’6 twin fin.

It wouldn’t be a Fulcrum Expression Session unless we awarded a grom with our “The Most Stoked” award. This prestigious title ultimately went to the mightiest menehune, Brandon Mar. The little fella was grinning from ear to ear the entire morning and caught the eye of Kalani Robb who chose Brandon as the days “biggest frother”.

Rounding out the list of winners was Mckenna Doan, who exemplified the raising talent level among the ladies of our ISPE groups. Mckenna took what she has learned from her Fulcrum Coaches and applied those techniques to assure that she took home the goodie bag.

In conclusion, Fulcrum would like to thank all the companies who make this event possible and extend an invite to everyone to come check out our next event!
